Since yesterday was my last day off of work for the rest of the year and well into 2006, I decided to enjoy it.
I went and saw Memoirs of a Geisha with a friend last night. I still can't really decide whether I like the movie or not. I think I'm leaning towards "no." I had read bad critiques on the movie prior to seeing it. And also I don't like the main actress, Zhang Ziyi. She is way overrated as a Chinese actress in the American market. The book is supposedly 100x times better. But I still don't understand the whole mystique about the blue/gray-eyed Japanese girl. No Asians are born with blue/gray-ish eyes. If there were, it would be some sort of weird mutation and that person would be looked upon as an outcast especially back in the days when people are more superstitious.
After the movie I met up with some ex-coworkers from MGM-Mirage. It's funny how we've all left the corporation for something else (better). Not saying it's a bad corporation or anything, just not our cup of tea (or department). So we caught up on things and updates on our ex-coworkers and I felt so out of loop. But mainly it's strange because so many people have broken up or divorced this year. It's very disheartening. One of my ex-coworker/friend works for one of the Big 4 accounting firms (which I was very close to getting in). She was telling me about her work environment. I think now that maybe it's a good thing afterall that I didn't get an offer. Hooking up with your coworkers and/or sleeping with half of the office doesn't seem like the kind of professional work place that I want to be in.
I have to figure out how to post pictures in my LJ. This place looks really plain without any. My sister and I went to the Leehom concert at Caesar's Palace on Sunday night. I want to post pictures!
